" Who We Be"
Delta Kappa Delta is the Nation's FIRST and ONLY South Asian service sorority.
On October 1, 1999, a group of 13 women founded Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Inc. at Texas A&M University as B.E.T.I.S (Behind Every True Indian Sister). Since then, we have grown to include many charters nationwide. On May 19, 2017, a group of 6 women founded Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Inc. at the University of Washington.

National HistoryOn October 1, 1999, the concept of Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Incorporated came to fruition at the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. At that time, Texas A&M University boasted a 40,000 plus student population, with less than five percent categorized as minorities.
B.E.T.I.S., Behind Every True Indian Sister, was created as a grass roots service organization prior to obtaining the Greek letters of Delta Kappa Delta (ΔKΔ). The National Founding Mothers realized the need to unite, serve, and educate the campus and community. Developing this vision proved to be arduous, but it also began the creation of a bond between thirteen young ladies that will stand the test of time. Through B.E.T.I.S., these women were able to spread and strengthen their ideals to other women on campus and begin to create a legacy. In addition to serving the community with enthusiasm, the National Founding Mothers emphasized excellence in Education, Culture, Community Service, Indomitable Spirit, and Sisterhood. |

Our Story: DKD UW
DKD was established at the University of Washington on May 19, 2017.
In the heart of Seattle, WA, there were six girls who had a vision to bring something new, something different to their campus. They wanted to bring the first sisterhood built through service.
The girls had to overcome many struggles to bring Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Inc. to campus. As the expansion project to the West Coast, they completed all of their assignments and meetings virtually, with no personal support system nearby. As young freshman, they struggled to find the resources to become established. But despite all of these challenges, they forged a bond like no other. They worked hard together to create a sisterhood grounded in the morals and beliefs of this organization. Using service to give back to and change their community, these six girls established the first West Coast colony of Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Inc. and became the first South Asian Service Sorority on their campus. |
